Membership in the Military Officers Association of America [MOAA], and therefore any subordinate Chapter, is open to any currently serving, retired, former and National Guard and Reserve commissioned or warrant officer from any of the uniformed services (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Public Health Service or National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration [NOAA]). Membership is also open to the surviving spouses of any of these officers.
MOAA National and Chapter memberships are separate and distinct. Joining the Chapter does not automatically provide you with National membership. One is not prevented from joining one and and not the other, however each one has its own benefits. The motto of MOAA is “Never Stop Serving”, and this is not merely a catchy phrase. MOAA National maintains a strong lobbying effort in the nation’s capitol – the strongest of any veterans organization. In addition, there are many other benefits associated with national membership.
Chapter membership, on the other hand, provides an opportunity to meet, network and socialize with veterans in your own community. The Genesee Valley Chapter hosts six dinner meetings per year at various locations, which always includes a program pertaining to military or veterans issues. Beyond the social aspects of membership, the chapter is involved in a host of other veterans causes. See our home page for more details.
Prospective members are strongly encouraged to maintain both National and Chapter membership. Genesee Valley Chapter membership is only $25 per year. Life memberships are also available on a graduated scale which varies with age.
